What is a Payment Gateway?

A payment gateway is a service that processes credit card payments. It is an intermediary between TimelyBill and a service provider's payment processing network.

A payment gateway is a service that processes credit card payments. It is an intermediary between TimelyBill and a service provider's payment processing network.

When a customer makes a payment, the payment gateway securely processes the transaction by transmitting the payment info to the payment processor, which then routes to the customer's credit card issuer for approval.

If the transaction is approved, the payment processor sends the authorization back to the payment gateway, which then gets passed back to TimelyBill. The payment gateway also sends the transaction details to the service provider's acquiring bank (the bank that holds the SP's account) for settlement.

Note: This integration is API-based. Taking customer payments using traditional PayPal requires a custom ordering portal.
